Supervision and support

This feature is not yet available, but it will be coming soon.

Section 12 of the Church of England's Safer Recruitment and People Management Guidance  states that:

"All appointments to posts that fall within the scope of this guidance must undergo an induction process appropriate to the role being undertaken, whether paid or unpaid."

Section 13 of the same guidance states that:

"A probationary/settling in period must be in place for all appointments to roles that fall within the scope of this guidance.

During this period, regular meetings must be scheduled and prioritised between the responsible person and the individual and safeguarding (process, understanding and behaviours) must form a core part of these meetings."

Section 14 also states that:

"As part of finalising the probation/settling-in period, arrangements must be made for how ongoing support is to be carried out for all roles that fall within the scope of this guidance, which must include confirmation of the responsible person to whom the individual reports to.

Regular meetings must continue to be scheduled between the responsible person (or someone to whom this task has been delegated) and the individual and safeguarding must form a core part of these ongoing meetings.

Any safeguarding concerns must be thoroughly discussed and documented.  These opportunities must also be used to develop the individual’s safeguarding understanding and skills."

The application of the above guidance includes:

  • Any role that involves substantial contact with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults.
  • Any role that involves supervising or managing the above roles.

It is good practice to apply this guidance to other roles too.

Why choose to use this feature?

This feature will be enabled or disabled for each role via the Role Settings in the Role Creator.

When enabled, the People Manager can keep track of:

  • New recruits that need to complete the induction process.
  • New recruits that need to complete their settling-in period.
  • Anyone who is awaiting a meeting for supervision and support.
