When a new role is added to the Hub, only two pieces of information are initially provided:
- Role title
- Type of role
Any mistakes with this information can be corrected via the Role Settings. However, there might be unintended consequences if this is changed at a later date.
Changing the role title
If the role title is changed in the Role Settings, it will be changed for all current and archived assignments.
Is this really what you want to do?
In many cases, it would be incorrect to apply the new title to any archived assignments.
Instead, the correct procedure would be:
- To end all assignments for old role (via the People Manager)
- To archive the old role (via the Role Creator)
- To add the new role with the new title (via the Role Creator)
- To assign people to the new role (via the People Manager)
This will correctly preserve the history of both roles.
Changing the type of role
If the type of role is changed in the Role Settings, it will immediately change the guidance notes for DBS requirements and safeguarding training.
Please note that this will NOT automatically update the specified DBS or training requirements - only the guidance notes are changed.
Therefore, it is important that these requirements are now checked against the new guidance.
Next, the Role Description and Person Specification must also be checked and updated.
